I have a problem with setting the default link module to a different link module that I have already created. |
Re: Set different Link Module as Default Link Module I assume you have the proper access to your DOORS database. In the Main DOORS Database window select Tools->Options... Select the Settings-tab. Look under the Miscellaneous section for Default link module. You can use the Select-button to navigate to any link module that you want to have as a default link module. A much better solution is to open the formal module that you want to create links in and select File->Module Properties... Then select the Linksets-tab. You can add your link module to the "Default link modules for links from this module to other modules" area here. This way you can control other users who may want to create links from this module. Now would be a good time to select Help->Contents and Index in any DOORS window, select the Index-tab, type in "Link", and read about defaults under the Link modules heading. You can get into trouble quickly if you do not understand linking yet in DOORS. |

Re: Set different Link Module as Default Link Module phan423 - Tue Feb 21 20:01:35 EST 2012 Default Link-Sets are set in the open Module's Properties sheet, "LinkSets" tab. For this (source) module, it tells you which Link Module to use when linking to specific other (target) modules. Mostly, the purpose is to prevent you from doing it wrong rather than helping you doing it right. Default Link Module is a User property, default "DOORS links", and tells DOORS where to put links when you mindlessly drag and drop to create links. Most policy folks believe linking .. [1] should not be saying .."There is some relationship from object S to object T", [2] should be saying: "There is an XYZ relationship from object S to object T". XYZ can be "Satisfy" or "Verifying" or "TestCaseFor" etc. Implementing specific XYZ relationships means mindfully setting up a specific link module to reflect each relationship. So when a user wants to say "S satisfies T" then she needs to put that link in the link module corresponding to a "Satisfies" relationship. Default Link Sets enourage [2] whereas Default Link Module encourages [1]. Using Default Link Modules can be accomplished by either [1] erasing all such values from every User, or [2] creating and then delete a "DOORS links" module in every folder (preventing such links). Both methods force folks to be mindful when creating links. -Louie |
